Why did energy MLPs generally move up fairly sharply Dec. 9 even though the price of oil fell yet again?

Usually MLPs move with the price of oil, not in the opposite direction>

Price is driven by 'sentiment' (what the market 'feels' about the stock) .. if there's a price divergance there is usually a reason == perhaps becasue there was an expectation of an 'even worse' situation and on Dec 9 something changed that revealed things to be 'not as bad as expected'

You have to work out 'what it was' for yourself :-)
