Republicans: who is your preferred GOP nominee for 2016, and why? Serious answers, please.?

eg. if you pick Trump over the others, why him? Or Rubio; why him? Hoping for real discussion, please. This is about GOP candidates and there's no reason to bring up Obama or Clinton or Sanders at all. Just want to see why, out of the GOP candidates, you prefer the guy (or lady) that you do.

And Democrats, if you participate, please be respectful. "They all suck" is not a useful answer either. Thanks!

Update:

Thanks, all. Several good answers here but I think "Liberals Are Nuts" was first, so best answer awarded. I appreciate the insight.

Kasich. He has the best record for quiet success of any of the candidates. This is why the media largely ignores him, not enough scandal to boost their ratings.

None [for either party] is 100% acceptable. I like part of Trump and part of Cruz. Trump because he understands the economy. Cruz because he understands law and the Supreme court. He was head of Harvard Law Review and worked in the supreme Court before being a Texas Senator.

Cruz. He is the most Constitutional and whether the media acknowledges it or not, he is the smartest person running... on either side. You can see the fear of Cruz in the media as they try to avoid substantive policy discussions when interviewing him, while simultaneously calling him "radical" without any real reason other than him wanting to balance the budget. Check out the Katy Couric interview with Cruz, on youtube. It's about 45 minutes long and will give you a great un-biased idea of what Cruz stands for.

Trump is an arrogant blowhard (like the current holder of the position). Carson and Fiorina do not have enough gravitas for the positon. Bush is named Bush. Cruz and Rubio are my choices, and they should stop taking potshots at each other and agree to a Cruz/Rubio or a Rubio/Cruz ticket. That could defeat the Trumpists and would certainly defeat Hillary.

Trump is the only candidate who has shown any willingness to discuss, let alone abate, the existential threat posed by mass third-world immigration. Every other candidate wants to make the problem worse.

Rubio.. because of his strong background and knowledge of foreign affairs. He also I believe would have been willing to listen to ALL sides of the issue not just the popular and political one....

Kasich. He seems to be the most logical candidate.
