Should I wait or find my own place?

About five months ago, my friend offered me a small one bed room house on his land. Two days before my move in date, he said I wouldn't be able to, because there was black mold inside the walls. I agreed and he started renovations. I was told it would be finished in two weeks, however, here we are, five months later, living temporarily with the third friend in their house as a guest. Every time I ask about the status, he just says "its coming along". He said in the beginning of December that he hoped I'd be moved in before Christmas, but here we are again, less than a week away, still not moved in. I took a look at the house three days ago and I can still see the sheetrock and the boards on the floor. I feel like I'm waiting for an opportunity that will not come. All my stuff is moved into his storage on the property. What should I say to him? Should I continue to wait or find my own place? I tried to be patient.

You left out what the financial arrangement is. Is this going to be a gift? If it a straight up business deal then tell the guy that you appreciate it but you need to move on. He can sell or rent it to someone else.

Find another place and move on

  • Find your own place if you can afford it. Just tell him you dont feel right imposing on the third friend anymore.
