Fortunately, I haven't been fired for performance issues up to this point, however I have had a job that was eliminated. Around the winter of 2006, I started a job working part-time in a real estate office. I worked in the morning and afternoon every week on Saturday. I worked there for a little bit more than a year until late summer of 2007. Around August 2007, the business I worked for was moving to another location and my position was eliminated. Late 2007 is when real estate and the economy has a whole began to decline relative to the way it had been in the past few years. After my position was eliminated, I continued attending college and I got a summer job the following year.

I was facing a lot of problems in life so I turned 16, dropped out of school, and went to get a job at a flower shop.

My boss was very welcoming and charming at first, but I suspect that was all due to a developing crush. He would hit on my several times a week and I would often brush him off.

The flower shop employees were entirely made up of women. The oldest being 35-years-old which was also his former girlfriend. She would always accuse me of being a poor worker and would get beyond jealous every time my boss and I spoke to one another. She hated me.

My mother is dying of an illness and I explained to the woman that if I do my job poorly to forgive me because I take care of my mother. She said, "Shame on your mother for depending on you, that's pathetic." I fled from the store in tears and went home.

All-in-all, there was a huge argument outside the store, she pulled a knife on my mother and I got fired. She remained an employee.

One time when I was in high school, I worked as a lab tech, cleaning laboratories in the evenings. Each one of use had an entire floor of the building to do and five hours to get it done. Our supervisor would let us know if there was any special tasks required to be done.

One night I was called into an office and my supervisor was there along with the big boss. He asked me why I didn't do the work I was assigned. I looked at him questioningly and said I completed everything that I was asked to do with time to spare. He then told me that Mrs. Thompson ( my supervisor) said she assigned me two tasks that had not been done. I looked at her and then him and said that was not true.

She turned to me and said she had asked me to unload two skids of items and I did not do it. I told her she never said any such thing. She asked if I was calling her a liar and I said once again, that she never said any such thing.

I was fired but as I was leaving, the security guard said that he believed me and that he would see to it that the supervisor got what was coming to her.

I went on to pay my way through collage and become an engineer then went back to school and got a commercial photography degree and now make more than she could ever dream of.
