After Jesus was born, God’s angel appeared to shepherds who were tending their flocks in the fields near Bethlehem.

The angel proclaimed: Today there was born to you in David’s city a savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:8-11

That announcement certainly had a powerful effect on those humble shepherds.

They immediately set out for Bethlehem, and when they found Joseph and Mary and the infant Jesus, they made known the message that they had been told concerning this young child.

The heavenly messanger appeared to them - the field lit up with God's glory. They were terrified. He announced the birth in detail- then THOUSANDS of other heavenly beings appeared singing praises to God. After they dissapeared into heaven, the shepherds went searching in the town for the babe, and found him just as the angel had said.

The angel announced it to them.

Luke 2V8:"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

V9:"And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

V10:"And the angel said unto them, Fear not; not for, behold,, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

V11:"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

V12:"And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

V13:"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

V14:"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to ward men.

V15:"And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Beth-lehem, and see this things which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

V16:"And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger."

Such a wonderful hope for the messy world we are not living in--Jesus is the Hope which is blessed for all mankind indeed.

    Peace and blessings to you.

Bethlehem was a small town. It's likely most people knew of Mary who was with child and where they were staying. Magi probably were never in Bethlehem. They went to Nazareth about two years later.
