300 BCE or 4000 BC ..
and please explain how in simple terms :)

BC and BCE are the same thing. BC stands for "Before Christ" but since Christianity isn't the only religion in the world, and some people don't believe in the Big 3, BCE stands for Before Common Era
Now, there was never a "0" year. We document our years starting at Year 1 AD (Anno Domini) / CE (common Era), all the way until 2015, and so on.
Remember learning about a number line in Elementary school? It probably went like this:
-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Remember what I said before? About there being no "Year 0"? So, let's remove the 0:
-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
This is also how we measure time. Anything before Year 1, is also 1, but with a different meaning, such as 1 BC/E
This is a bit confusing to explain, but think of it like this:
Year 1 AD/CE = 1
Year 1 BC/E = -1
Got it?
So, between 300 BCE or 4000 BC, which is older? It's 4000 BC/E, because it's the farthest away from Year 1.

BC and BCE are the same thing. BCE is just a Politically Correct term to keep atheist from complaining that someone referred to the term "Christ", and it hurt their sensitive ears, like a cross burns a vampire.
On a number line, the BC would represent NEGATIVE NUMBERS. So, as you go MORE NEGATIVE, the older something is.
4000 BC is older than 300 BCE.

4000 BC is older. Think of it like a timeline. When we switched from BCEE to ADE , that is time 0. The 4000 will way farther down (to the left) on the timeline than 300. Its just like a negative number.

I did not research but I just assume 300 BCE is older.
I ment 4000bc what the other guys said, yeah...
