Depends on where you live, how your house is/was designed and how the solar system is designed.

In the best case, you won't need to buy oil any more. In the worst case, you'll be very cold, and then the water in the heating system (and, perhaps, some time later the antifreeze in the solar system) will freeze and destroy the pipes.

Solar can work along with an oil furnace which means you will use less oil.

You do not replace the old, add solar and use less fossil fuel,

should you replace , as for solar, the home is not equipped for total same,

should you have a new build there are new factors as good-better.

Solar no such animal to heat your home, Not yet.in solar its going to be electric you realize this right. So there is no battery that is going to hold enough charge to have the amps pulled from it to heat an average home, you have to look at the BTU<S to keep your house warm.

With today's technology, you'll be cold.
