I m in dire need of a place to live and if asked I ll need to lie about having a job?

I ve never been on a lease before. The people that I ve been living with s (I ve been couch surfing with a few friends for a while but have enough money for a security deposit and two/three months rent) lease is running out, and the closest affordable place to rent is 60+ miles away, so I wouldn t be able to continue my current job as I don t have a car. I ve found people to move in with me (thus me saying that I can pay the security deposit and a few months rent), so I won t have to go in on it alone, but I d have to lie about having a job. Is it worth it? If the landlord finds out later even if I have a job by the time would I likely be evicted? I don t want my rental record to be tainted because I don t want to hurt future chances of getting a place, but I m about to be homeless if I can t secure a spot. Is there anything else I could do so that I wouldn t have to lie that would help me be approved for a lease? Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

In order to be able to apply for a rental place, you would need to show proof of having a job with current pay stubs, w-2 forms for the last couple of years.

Most landlords would send a document to your current to verify that you are employed there even with the pay stubs.

You would also need to list previous employment.

If you lie your way past this phase, you would be required to have a deposit equal to one months rent as well as the current month rent. If you rent is $600 per month, you would be required to have $1,800 to get into the rental unit.

Once you are there you might need funds to have the utilities turned on in your name.

If for some reason your landlord find out you have lied on your application after you have been living there for awhile, your landlord might legally evict you for fraud. You would have lost the rent and deposit you were

required to have when you initially moved into the rental unit.

It might be to your advantage to find a relative or friend to live with temporarily.

Having an eviction or losing money for lying would not be of any help to you for a few years.

You would need to find a job, save a sufficient amount of money to legally be considered being approved as a

    potential tenant.

It appears in your current position, you would need to find a temporary job position, or one that you might not be fond of.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

Sorry, but if you don't have proof that you have a job in the form of pay stubs and W-2 forms your plan to lie about having a job is dead in the water. No landlord is going to accept a verbal statement about having a job without verifying, so that won't work. If you don't have other friends or family to stay with, then look into shelters in your area.

" but I d have to lie about having a job. Is it worth it?" and a landlord will check this before you will be offered a contract, you have to prove earnings....... you have a job now, look for rent and room in a family home, it is much cheaper and saves you being made homeless, at least then you have time to look for a new job where rental is cheaper or find a place near to where you now work

DO NOT lie on applications. That will not get you a unit and is automatic grounds to deny you. Landlords do not just take your word for it. They will check everything. Don't worry about gettign evicted because if you cannot prove your income you will never get proved to move in in the 1st place.

if you don't have a job currently you cannot tell the prospective land lord that you do

since you have the deposit and some rent for several months he might take a chance that you will be successful getting a new job, but not all of them will

you won;t get any place without proving you have a job (current paystubs). for one thing you will need at least 2 months worth of rent just to sign the lease

You will always find plenty people to move in since you will be paying the deposit. But can you count on these people? I doubt it. See if you can rent a room alone. About lying abut your income? If you do not want to ruin your credit don't do this.

They don't just ask you verbally if you have a job, they will want to see some pay stubs.
