  • Question about the transmission of parvo?

I'm planning on going to a get together tonight. Two friends of mine who are coming, who will undoubtedly hug me whether or not I'm expecting it, have a puppy who just survived parvo. They don't live at the house I'm going to and the puppy will not be there, but could I still get germs on me from them and carry them home? I have a dog is a fully vaccinated adult and thus cannot (or is very unlikely to) get parvo. However, I know that it's possible that she can get it in her system and transmit it through her feces to other dogs, and we have neighbors with a puppy. My question is: what are the chances that I bring home and give my dog the virus? I don't want to think of her giving the puppy parvo if it touches her feces. Am I being a responsible person if I go?

  • I have pressure on my ear drums, should I go to concerts/shows?

I've had plans for a while for this week to spend my it seeing bands every day. Yesterday, I went to a clinic and was prescribed prednisone and ear drops. She knew about my plans but didn't say not to go, but I've had my suspicions. Should I still try to go to the concerts/shows if the wear foam ear plugs? Am I risking permanent damage even if I use that for if protection?

  • What's the likelihood of getting the flu from someone at the doctor's office?

I have a vacation planned for the next two weeks that I've already taken off work for and can't miss, but I think I may have an ear infection and I want to deal with it ASAP. My dilemma is that it's flu season and I'll possibly be sitting in a room with other people who have it and contract it. That would be disastrous. I'm wondering if I should just try home remedies and hope it's not an infection. If I go, should I wear a face mask? If I go, I plan on washing and germ-x'ing my hands every chance I get and washing my clothes and showering afterward. What are the chances that I would contract it with all of this in mind?

  • Should I go to the doctor?

I can tell that I have some fluid in my left ear that is being blocked by the eustachian tube, which is closed because of my allergies. It s only hurt a little, and only in isolated moments over the past three days (it was always a dull pain), but the thought of an infection scares me. I started taking an antihistamine/decongestant today that hopefully should help a little, I ve been chewing a lot of gum, sleeping in the best positions for drainage, keeping my head upright, etc., but none of it seems to have helped yet. I leave in 5 days for a two week trip that I ve had plans for months. I d go to the doc, but the flu is going around and that would put me at a great risk of getting around, which would be even worse than an ear infection. Should I try to go to the doctor? Should I call and try to get a prescription for an antibiotic (I don t know if that can be done, just asking)? I can t miss this trip.

  • I m in dire need of a place to live and if asked I ll need to lie about having a job?

I ve never been on a lease before. The people that I ve been living with s (I ve been couch surfing with a few friends for a while but have enough money for a security deposit and two/three months rent) lease is running out, and the closest affordable place to rent is 60+ miles away, so I wouldn t be able to continue my current job as I don t have a car. I ve found people to move in with me (thus me saying that I can pay the security deposit and a few months rent), so I won t have to go in on it alone, but I d have to lie about having a job. Is it worth it? If the landlord finds out later even if I have a job by the time would I likely be evicted? I don t want my rental record to be tainted because I don t want to hurt future chances of getting a place, but I m about to be homeless if I can t secure a spot. Is there anything else I could do so that I wouldn t have to lie that would help me be approved for a lease? Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

  • Can I rent an apartment without a job?

I'm moving to a new area for health related reasons and thus I don't have a job locked up there yet. However, I have enough money to pay rent and utilities for at least three, if not possibly four months, and there are several others going in on the house with me who do have jobs. Is there any way I could make it clear to the landlord that I have money to pay for several months and that I'm new to the area and thus have time to find a job, and would that help? Thanks in advance. Is it possible for me to rent a place under these circumstances?

  • Is it safe to swim in the ocean with a paronychia?

I'm assuming the answer is no on this one, but I feel it's worth asking. I'm going to a beach in a couple of days and I believe one of my toes is developing a paronychia. It may not manifest completely, as not all of them have actually built up to the surface, but I know it's best to still treat it as one. I started soaking it in water today & washing it with soap when I noticed the skin was turning red, and I've applied Neosporin, but it'll be several days at the least before it goes away.

  • Certain websites are being blocked on my computer, can anyone help?

Over the past 12 hours, I have not been able to load Facebook or use the Last.fm scrobbler on my computer that inputs my plays into my account. It's only those two sites that are being blocked; everything else is loading properly. I've encountered these problems before, and last time, MSE was blocking my access, so I had to uninstall it. After that, everything went back to normal. I thought that was the problem this time because I recently installed AVG. Before doing that, though, I checked to make sure it wasn't the browser (it wasn't), checked to make sure everything was updated (it was), and ran a computer scan with AVG to ensure there weren't any serious threats blocking my access. The scan detected a few small threats, but nothing that I wouldn't normally find on a scan. I then decided that the only thing I really had left to try was uninstall AVG, which I did. I restarted my computer as I'd done earlier today multiple times, but the sites were still blocked. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Can anyone offer help? Thanks!

  • What are your experiences with cassette tapes?

Do you prefer them to CD or digital? Vinyl doesn't matter here.

Do you collect them? Do they annoy you? How do you feel about them?

I'm listening to one I received a while back and it sounds verrrrrry nice. I can hear many parts that I didn't notice beforehand. I'm not saying all cassettes are this way, because it usually doesn't go this way.

  • If I bike everyday starting this June, should I be able to ride 2 miles to and from school by late August?

I'm in shitty shape right now, but I've got time to work on that (part of which would be the bike riding, of course). I haven't ridden one in years, but it seems like a great idea, especially compared to a car in terms of environmental issues. Also, it's cost efficient. Back to the original question, what do you think? I think that if I put enough work in I can. Also, how long do you have to ride before you get used to the butt soreness? You guys are my only hope (not really, but hey, you can probably help).

  • If energy drinks depress me, will alcohol do the same?

About an hour after the last few times I've had energy drinks, I began to feel an onset of anxiety and depression. It worsens what I already have and makes me feel really shitty. I've never had alcohol before, but I was wondering, would it do the same?
