Why was plundering the mayor occupation of the Germanic tribes and why weren't they quick to accept enlightened Roman ideas?

    The emperor Claudius said that Rome’s success lay in knowing how to turn outsiders into allies. That is exactly what Rome did. Germanic tribes gradually accepted the Roman way of life.

    there is a Romance with this civilization thing what did the Romans do for us is perfectly portrayed by the life of Brian and Monty Python the British for instance had Roman rule for 400 years when they left the dark ages began gone was the road building and Roman philosophy the baths the villas the Angles and Saxons from GERMANY came who were just as none Roman so the What did the Romans do for us was true yes they built roads but we didn't bother with them yes they built baths and washed we didn't when they left we just carried on as before
