I agree to the person who posted question here.

International degree and Canadian experience are not well recognized here. Since last 15 years, Canada is losing grounds on many fronts. This is because they have stopped hiring and promoting true talent since early 2000. Now, these ordinary people moved up the ladder and they continued to keep away talent from mainstream jobs. Few lucky talented people who had personal relations could make through the filters. Their hands are tied and they are given less authority to make any change in the system. They are just watching and keeping mum. Why?

When world economy started sliding down from 2006, Canada was getting hit badly as government and private sectors did not had enough talent pool to correct. Best example would be four giant auto companies were bailed out 2008-09 with a promise that they will stay in the country. They were given billions of dollars from tax payers money but they all left the country within four years. No one could stop them.

Second good example which is most recent to prove the point. Today, Alberta province is a complete economic disaster. Jobs are vanishing and businesses are closing down. Kevin O'Leary (Investor Shark Tank and Dragon Den) has offered 1 million dollar over the television to Alberta premier and asked her to step down and make a way for others.

Third example - Ontario government is completely in debt and huge deficit. Ontario GDP is lowest. Now these should be the challenges for the premier but premier is busy in making woman rights as a political issue. Why? because premier does not have talent pool to guide well. Many times I feel that premier is working like a care taker until new person joins the office. Ontario government is contentiously favoring female applicants and preferring them for jobs. This may be because female are better then men in concealing any economic wrong doings. So, few smart people can easily rip-off the government and no one would know until these become big and uncontrollable issues.

Minimum wages are higher in Ontario most of the companies are hiring people who would do three person's work in one salary. One person is doing three persons job in one salary - this is minimum wages violation. Person can not say NO as he or she may not find the job elsewhere and works like a a dog.

Until now, rich people were getting rich and middle class is slowly thinning down. One may see this as good sign as some middle class are becoming rich and some poor. But if you look ate the history, middle class plays major role in driving healthy economy of a country, province and a city. As middle class starts thinning down, tax collection became less, rich people always find ways to avoid taxes and poor people do not have income to pay taxes. Rich people tend to buy things of very high grade which are mostly not manufactured in the country, they invest money outside of the country and do not necessarily report the income. Middle class and poor class people tend to buy things made locally and pay sales taxes hence giving boost to local manufacturers.

If the new government does not act swiftly then only god would help us.

What are you talking about and why do you need a scientist to answer such a nonsense question.

Immigrants do not earn minimum wage. Of the 260,400 or so immigrants entering Canada in 2014:

    * 66,000 were family sponsorships -- they are living with their Canadian spouse, parent, or children. They cannot be on welfare since their sponsorship agreement requires that their sponsor provide all necessary care for a three or ten (children) year period.

    * 165,000 entered through economic categories. None of these are on minimum wage jobs. In order to apply they would need to have job offers in specific professions (doctors, engineers, nurses, specialized trades, etc.), tens of thousands in saves, education, English (or French) testing, etc. Investor categories have massive net worth ($10M+) as do farmers and start-up visa holders (millions of dollars) and are working in their farms/businesses. None of these are doing minimum wage.

    * 23,000 entered as refugees. These *might* end up on welfare or low-end jobs, but they have a ton of help in terms of government job finding programs, community groups, family members, language training, continuing education training, etc.

    * 5,000 others. Most would include self-employed people (top artists, writers, NHL hockey players, etc.) None of these are earning minimum wage jobs.

Other than refugees... almost no immigrant in Canada is living off a minimum wage job. Further, almost no one in Canada is either... less than 5% of jobs are minimum wage and most workers are under 18 or over 60. And if you were for some reason stuck in a minimum wage job... work two of them.
