Yes there is, and some of it is quite blatant. Or at least, it is sexual symbolism.

    * Before Bond enters the mine (the mine is a large hole, and because of this, can be seen as a female symbol) he asks if he will 'get any protection' beforehand. Doctor Jones points to some radiation suits hanging on a washing line, which look like condoms.

    * Bond is being tortured by Elektra King on the Maiden Tower - a very phallic looking construction in the middle of Istanbul harbour. She does this by tightening a torture device around his neck. Before she does, he asks for 'just one more screw.'

    * Doctor Jones emerges from an underwater scene wearing a very wet and transparent-looking T-shirt.

    * In one scene, Renard is repeatedly pushing a golden plutonium rod into a hole on his submarine.

    * Due to its shape, a submarine could be seen as a phallic symbol.

    * In the final scene, Bond is about to make love to Doctor Christmas Jones, and wisecracks that he thinks " Christmas only comes once a year. "

Now theres a word I havent heard since A-level English Literature.

Rewatch it and pick out anything, almost anything can be argued to be phallic.

Bonds gun for instance, does he do anything in particular with it when he sees one of his women?
