There are plenty of polyglots, especially in regions like Europe, so sure. If you're asking us whether *you* are capable of it, we can't know that. If you fluently speak three languages now at age 18, I'd say you have a knack for it. If you speak English and some modest Spanish and a little German as I do at age 60, then no. So, if you're young, talented, and very motivated, you might be able to do much of what you envision if you devote your life to it. You have a very wide range of different languages there, though, so before you start contemplating the pipe dream of a dozen languages, start with one and then reevaluate your chances after you've immersed yourself in it for a year.

Absolutely. There are many multi-lingual people.

I can speak French, Spanish, English, some Russian, and quite a bit of German.

I can write in French, Spanish, and English.

By the way, the Pimsleur Language Software Programs were most helpful in learning and

    brushing up on foreign languages.

UPDATE: my nephew is on a mission in Norway and seemed to pick up the language in a year.

It helps to be around native speakers.

If you live to be very old and spend about 10 years learning each language and then also maintain everyone of them daily or very frequently.I can claim to speak 7 languages but I know only very little of 4 of them..I have met many people who claimed to know many languages. In reality they knew only a little bit of each one. There are a lot of showoffs and unless you know the languages you can be fooled easily.

You may be able to learn to speak Japanese in a year, but learning to read and write it to adult level will take considerably longer.
