    Blood loss

    Body unable to absorb needed amounts

    Consuming little to no food with iron

    Not consuming vitamin C with the iron (vitamin C helps iron absorb)

    Baby, toddlers growing rapidly

    Kinds of foods high in iron are red meat, poultry, seafood, beans, dark green leafy vegetables, etc.

    Foods with iron and vitamin C are broccoli, grapefruit, kiwi, leafy greens vegetables, peppers, tomatoes, oranges, etc.

    Iron pills are prescribed by doctor when diagnosed with low iron. The pills never worked for me. Liquid iron works better than the pills.
