Horse help?

I have an interesting problem... I have trained and learned from some very experienced people...Equine researchers and experts, trainers, judges, and a number of other people.. I am an intermediate rider and have started working with many horses. (couldn't finish one because we had to sell it :( and just stated some). I am 14 and want to start some small jobs (helping people with minor stuff, like if they are afraid of their horse, or are having minor problems) for no money, just for the experience... I think that I am finally ready to do it...but- No one thinks I can help them because of my size, and my age..and those who i have tried to help, expect me to work magic in seconds, and they dont understand that horses take time, and a process to find out what is causing the problem and how to fix it! Im not sure how to deal with this...I just want to help people, no charge, no catch, just so i can get some experience...But everyone says im too small, or think im some magic worker, what should I do?

It would probably be best to advertise your help in your local feed and tack stores, as well as online. Here are some things to consider when writing your add. Be sure to include most if not all of the answers to these questions?

    - What services are you most focused on completing for people?

    - Your age?

    - Experience level?

    - Horses, ponies, both?

    - Show experience?

    - What disciplines?

    - English, western, both?

    - References?

    - Video or pictures?

    - Price for services or a gas fee?

    - Days available?

    - Transportation?

    - How far are you willing to travel?

These are some important things to include in your ad. Don't feel discouraged if people don't call you right away! Because of your age you need to prove yourself to everyone because they don't think a younger person can be good at the job!

    Good luck!

I would join a group, such as 4-H, or something similar, depending on what's available in your area.

Once you get to know some people, start helping the younger kids who may be having issues.

After people see what you can do, they will be more willing to come to you. But, until you get some sort of reputation, it will be very difficult.

And, remember, at 14, you still have a lot to learn yourself.

I would advertize a particular short list of things you can train something like:

If you struggle and would like help with some additional training for you or your horse with one of the following:

    - trailer loading

    - clipping without sedation

    - standing for the farrier

    - bathing

    - leading

    - lunging

Call me! I'm happy to help. I charge no set fees. Pay what you think my services are worth.

Or something like that. You develop the list of things you feel comfortable with. And, these are skills that many people struggle teaching their horse if they are a beginner. These are the type of people you want to focus upon as an intermediate student yourself.
