Lemmy now david bowie cancer sucks?

Dave Bowie did not play heavy metal, but you would be a fool to think he didn't have a massive influence on the genre. Beyond the superficial influence he may have had on glam metal, the man was an artist in the purest form. He was ultimately always himself, never trying to appease anybody and his spirit no doubt influenced many of the musicians you listen to today.

You don't have to take my word for it. Tributes have been pouring out since the announcement late last night, that Bowie died after an 18 month battle with cancer. Here is a round-up of metal musicians and some rock musicians showing their love to one of the greats:

It sucks for everyone. But it's creepy how many great musicians have passed away in the past year -- first Philthy Taylor, then Weiland, now Lemmy and Bowie (and, except for Weiland, they were all felled by cancer).

Yeah, I realized cancer sucks when my sister died of it 2 years ago.

David died at the age of 69. Did you think he'd live forever?

My wife died of it at the age of 36. Yeah, it sucks.

Agreed. It's heartbreaking how some people who definitely aren't ready to die receive such a terrible thing.
