For W-4 allowances, if you read the instructions, if you are single, only have 1 job, and cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else, then you can claim 2 allowances on the W-4. But you only claim 1 deduction on your Form 1040. You should just about break even at tax time, not getting much of a refund or not owing much. But if you have other significant income with no withholding, you may want to reconsider W-4 allowances to cover eventual tax for that.

Probably, if you have only one job and no one else can claim you as a dependent.
