Telepathy test: which number did I write?
Hi, I invite you to participate in a simple telepathy test.
At about 5:20 p.m. on this Thursday January 14 (Brussels, Belgium time), I wrote carefully one of the three numbers: "1", "2", "3" on my sheet of paper, and I surrounded it with a circle. Then, I wrote it again twice.
I shall repeat this number (which was obtained using a random number generator) from time to time during this test.
I ask you to write it here (if you think you know it, even with a doubt). You may also answer "I don't know".
So, your answer should be one of the three numbers: "1", "2", "3", or "I don't know".
I would also appreciate a little comment; you may say, for example, how confident you are in your answer.
Thank you for participating.
PhotonX, three remarks for you:
(1) Two years ago, after a similar test ( /question/index?qid=20140... ), you said: "You gave up too soon. Maybe you should try it again." What made you change your mind so much? The "Islamic State" perhaps? ;)
(2) You gave the correct answer in the last two tests. Perhaps you can do it again in this one.
(3) I do these repetitive tests in order to try to prove that I am "telepathic", i.e. that I communicate thoughts to others
Hunter, you write about Dr. Sheldrake as if he was a friend of yours, do you know him personally? I think he's currently probably one of the best researchers in telepathy but, like you, I have some reservations about his "morphic resonance" ideas.
Your wish is an order, Mr. P:
1) In May 2014, the target was "8", and you replied "(4) ..." (incorrect but related)
2) In April 2015, the target was "3", and you replied "...13..." (incorrect but related)
3) In July 2015, the target was "2", and you answered "Number 1." (incorrect)
Thank you for your number, PhotonX, I shall try to address your concerns.
First of all, if you want to see results of previous tests, I think the best way is to click on my avatar, you will then see the list of all my questions, classified chronologically. If you don't read French, you may just ignore all questions in French, and focus only on questions in English. A little analysis of the results is generally presented at the end of the test
(either after the test, where I post now, or in the comments). Because of the software change at Yahoo Answers, some of my older comments are unfortunately lost.
Secondly, keep in mind that this is a parapsychology experiment, I am not a researcher working in the pharma industry and developing a new drug. The methods are not necessarily the same.
Thirdly, I think you can be reassured about the scientific seriousness of this experiment, I am an engineer and a Ph.D. in Physics, I have studied statistics in college. No answer is ignored in order to achieve a certain goal in my tests, I do not have the power to delete answers and you may verify my conclusions for each question.
Fourth, from a scientific point of view, a questions with four possibilities is just as serious and scientific as a question with ten possibilities (there are statistical tools to deal with both). I am, however, interested in your input about the best approach.
I didn't know that, Hunter. In wikipedia, they say: "... morphic resonance is given as the reason that all humans have suddenly become immortal.". Frankly, I don't understand this, but I suppose this is not really important.
I have explained my credibility idea just for you in detail, Billy. I am sorry you are still unconvinced.
RESULTS: PhotonX and Mr. P answered "2", Tchernobilly and PBUH answered "3", and the correct answer was ..."1". I did not find any of the four numerical answers credible, however, so the results display the usual correlation between credibility and correctness.

I would say (2)
If you are keeping record I would like to know my previous results.

<I would also appreciate a little comment> Okay. I can't imagine why you keep repeating this question.
.
.
EDIT: Okay, I'll guess 2.
(1) What I said in the other question and thanks for linking to it, BTW) was in the context of exactly what you were saying, but I can't understand now exactly what it was I was trying to say. I gather the Islamic State reference is a joke.
.
(2)But how do I know how I did before? You never publish results. At least guessing between 1 and 10 is a bit more convincing than between 1 and 3, but if you keep changing your method how can you correlate your results. And wouldn't it be far more convincing to select your number from a hundred numbers? Or a thousand? Wouldn't that be a far more convincing proof of your 'telepathic powers' than a 33% chance? And to be statistically significant, such tests must be conducted among the same subjects over hundreds or thousand of trials. Which, I guess, would answer my first comment, why you keep repeating it, but the point is that you're not doing it in a rigorous fashion. It's not science if you don't have double-blinds, for one thing.
.
(3) Ditto. You can't prove it if you aren't following scientifically-controlled methodology. You're leaving yourself open to confirmation bias--"PhotonX guessed right twice, therefore I'm telepathic, even though he was wrong the other times." By using only three numbers you're making it likely that a narrow statistical deviation will show you the results you want. I see Hunter makes this point also, and he is the most likely person here to support your views, so pay attention to that if you don't want to fool yourself.

Yeah, as someone occasionally telepathic I would think you are wasting your time with these muggles. From what I have learned from other telepaths is that we are telepathic mostly among other telepaths but only a few can read human minds or send thoughts to human minds. It can be done but it requires a particular type of telepathy known as forced rapport which few telepaths have.
The other thing is that experiments like this are too broad. Someone might guess an answer-- someone else might get your right answer through precognition or some other psi gift besides telepathy. After all, perhaps only 0.05% of all the seven billion people on this rock are telepathic. There are nearly 80 known psi gifts, but telepaths are the least common type of psi. Precognition is far more common.
But if you want to keep doing them, I wish you luck. BTW there's a well known biologist by the name of Rupert Sheldrake who wants to hear about telepathic experiences. He's a cool dude, but I think his theory on telepathy and morphic fields needs some work. :-)
True experiences
@ Sheldrake is not exactly a friend, but someone I have been corresponding with over the past year. People who want to know about telepathy usually asks telepaths and I told him about a few of my experiences. I found it kinda amusing that his morphic field idea became the center theme for the Torchwood: Miracle Day story. In a way, that has made him more famous than anything else he has done.
@ You sort of have to know the basis for Torchwood to understand what happens during the two month “Miracle Day.” It is an interesting concept, though: what happens to the world when nobody can die…

I've just seen a tree ...
My english is so bad, I think it was a "3" ?
.
"No answer is ignored ..." but why some answers are said "not credible" (and discard) ?
Making your "tests" not credible is not the number of possibilities, but the number of answers !
.
Your explanations were in French and your criteria of credibility seem to me very subjective.
I would be pleased if you were willing to explain them again in English for the other participants.
:o)
Comment dit-on "travail sans queue ni tête" en anglais ?

I am 100% confident that you wrote a 3. Except you wrote it backwards.
EDIT: Correction, you wrote it forwards. When I remote viewed your number I was facing the wrong direction.
