They know they are wrong and it isn't subconscious. The entire young Earth creation industry is a fraud. Since the income of "creation scientists" like Kent Hovind, Ken Ham and Andrew Snelling is mostly derived from many thousands of small contributions from church congregations, they don't miss it if a few wake up to the fact that they are being scammed. There's a sucker born every minute, so another one comes along and starts contributing a few dollars a week.

That is why they put a good deal of effort into deceiving children and teens. In a few years teens will be earning and contributing if they can be kept from learning the truth. Of course in this they are assisted by parents, who were indoctrinated with this junk science 10 to 20 years ago and the grandparents before that.
