Fix it ticket question, can I go before my court date to fix it?
I got a ticket for having no insurance, but I did have insurance I just had the wrong paperwork in my car, so it's a simple fix.
My court date is on Thursday, I was wondering if I could go there earlier and get it fixed like that? I tried going to a Police Officer for a signature or whatever, they said that doesn't work for these.
If it helps, I'm in California.
Thanks!

If you can prove you had insurance prior to when the ticket was issued they will drop the ticket, the court doesn't reschedule dates for people. They would go crazy with the 1,000's of cases in traffic court. The more you want them to make special conditions for you the more they will show you your not any more special than anyone else. Show up as scheduled show your paperwork and go home.

You can take the citation and your proof of insurance valid at the time to the clerk's office at any time on or before the appearance date. Don't take it too soon--it has to be in the system--but if your appearance date is this week it will be there. You will have a small administrative fee to pay (about $25).

You could have mailed in your proof and asked that the court date be cancelled and then followed up to make sure it was cancelled but, you waited too long. They will never receive it in time. So, you must appear in court with your proof.
