Would you give money to other people when you barely can support yourself?

My economic situation is bad, I've been unemployed for a long time, rarely make ends meet and always borrowing money.

However, I sometimes see people in the street that crush my heart, and internet projects that I'd like to donate to.

But If I give them money, most of the time I'd be giving them borrowed money, not mine, so I don't know if it's fair to the people who is helping me; but on the other hand, I can see that the receivers need the money more than I do, and they could not care less about where it came from, right?

Also, I have a feeling that giving is a healthy practice, makes you feel good and perhaps could improve my situation. And the internet projects I want to support, I want to do it to make a better world.

What would you do in my case? Also, you think it's a very obvious problem, or you would also have difficulties to decide in the same situation?

Remember to put yourself before anyone else. I wouldn't, because I would need the money for myself.

Of course I would lend others money if I had a lot of it myself.

If I lent you money to say pay your rent with and then I found out you gave away that money I would be irked and not lend to you again.

Yes many people on the street deserve your charity. Many are also junkies. If you want to give to a street person give them food not $. My friend bought a homeless lady lunch and she didn't want it, she only wanted $to buy herion with.

Same with online charities. In many cases oy a small percentage of your donation goes to the cause, so do your research!!!

Yes, this is a quandary. I love giving to people who need. It does make you feel good to know you eased someone's suffering. You are banking some Karma for yourself. However, I don't know how wise it is to give away what little you have. If you are alone, it's up to you. If, however, you have a family counting on you, I'd rethink being overly generous.
