Why does boredom exist?

I believe it is to make you feel motivated to be productive - for example to help others, or to improve the world in some other way.

A shrink friend of mine once told me that boredom is actually repressed anger. Sounded like an over-simplification to me at the time, and I'm still not sure I buy into it, but - if this guy told me the sky was green instead of blue, I'd look up first and see.

The interesting thing about boredom is that boredom, is almost like a godly state of mind.

You are bored in the very face of the miracle of life.

And so you can see why its almost a godly state.

Boredom only exists within the lazy and / or those lacking in curiosity, imagination, creativity or in compassion for others,

Why ask this in philosophy, it is a psychological subject.

Boredom is lack of stimulation that you value

Hello The One And Only :-), as one forgets himself he feels entertained. Otherwise he feels bored. But true self is a state of bliss. So if one has a realization of his own self then he never feels bored. So self realization is the only one remedy for all problems and hazards in the world.

To put in perspective the times that you are so busy that you work yourself into an anxiety attack.

If you're bored, read or do something creative.

Because we have created spare time for ourselves through Technology and other faster means to complete essential tasks in far less time.

It exists because many people do not keep their mind and body busy.
