Joining military with asperger syndrome?
Hi, so I have a question that hopefully a Military recruiter could answer.
I was diagnosed with asperger syndrome a very long time ago, and I've been looking into the military. I've received varying yes and no answers, and I recently spoke to a Army recruiter, and neglected to mention I was afflicted by it, and I asked if someone theoretically had asperger syndrome but was barely affected by it AT ALL. They said no one can EVER join the military with the asperger syndrome, even if they were barely affected it at all. So I want a second opinion.

There's no opinion about it. It's straight and clear cut in the regs. Asperger's is a permanent DQ with no waiver.

There is no second opinion.
People with neuro psych condition are not eligible to join the military. Ever.

If it is in your records somewhere, then the answer is no. I myself am slightly touched, but wasn't diagnosed until later I life. I served without any issues.

DO NOT LIE ON YOUR HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE! If it happens to affect you in training and you failed to mention something about it and meds or treatment you had, then you will get kicked out for fraudulent enlistment
