The temperature of the block of metal should decrease.

The temperature of the container with ice and water should be lower than the temperature of the block of metal. In order to equalize the temperature differences, heat will transfer from the metal to the container which will lower the initial temperature of the block of metal.

Given enough time, eventually both objects should become the same temperature.

The heat is sucked out of the metal to make the ice melt. The metal gets colder....... but finally the temperature of the bucket of water and the metal will become the same. All things like this tend toward equality.
