Does the Bible allow for accepting the possibility of extraterrestrial life?

I'm just curious how many Christians could actually entertain the possibility of life on other planets. Because you get these hard-lined literalists who think anything not in the Bible is to be rejected...

The Bible does not specifically address this problem, so it doesn't rule out the possibility of extraterrestrial life. However, the "alien encounters" that some people describe are most likely either hoaxes, delusions, or demonic in nature. If there is life out there, I don't believe we'll be making contact any time soon. *IF* these aliens exist, earth may even be under quarantine due to our rampant rejection of the Creator of the universe.

The bible talks about strange signs in the heavens. it also says that the anti-Christ will perform lying signs and wonders. Could alien life be part of it ? Yes.

If there is alien life, I believe it's not off God, but demonic. I say this because Alien encounters are always closely associated with the occult and psychic

Interesting how you make all sorts of unwarranted assumptions in your question, like:

    1. You assume that "these hard-lined literalists" represent all Christians (false).

    2. You assume that "what [you think] is in the Bible" and "what Christians actually believe" is the same thing (false).

Anyway, a very famous and rather conservative Christian, C.S. Lewis, wrote an article about the religious implications of extraterrestrial life in which he DID seriously entertain the possibility. So much for your ridiculous argument.

Technically the vast majority of the stuff the bible claims is going on is 'extraterrestrial'.

Sure, but they would probably be classified as animals (if we found anything). And that's a big "IF"

The idea there is life out there smarter than us is pretty foolish considering we are at the top of the food chain on our own planet. It would be like a giraffe tryign to fall taller animal. Would be looking for an extremely long time

Since the Bible doesn't say anything whatsoever on that topic, yes, it is open to that possibility. God certainly had the right to create some of His children on some of the BILLIONS of other planets He created. The discovery of such beings on other planets would not change the slightest detail of His history with His people on this planet.

No because the Bible doesn't even know that other planets existed. It thinks all the stars in the sky are part of the firmament and that they can fall to the Earth.

We manage the discovery of North America by Christians who were suprised at the numbers of generations that God, the Holy Spirit, had not inspired to know Jesus.

The theology that reconcile this will work with space aliens. Research it.

The Bible is about our relationship with and knowledge of God which is eternal. We can't expect the writers of scripture to know anything about ETs and 21st century science.
