When cooking hamburger patties why do instructions state to only flip them once? My ex would refuse to eat them if I turned them more.?

I have no idea why your instructions say that or why your ex is a crazy person.

When I worked at Wendy's, we flipped every burger at least four times before serving. If you don't want a bloody burger but you also don't want the outside burned, you have to flip it more than once. Besides, most grill masters will tell you to quickly sear both sides to lock in the juices, and then proceed to cooking the burger fully, which automatically requires more than two flips.

Flat meat like that only needs 6-8 minutes. So 4 minutes on 1 side on high is usually enough to brown & create grill marks.

If you have to go back to an original side - you probably flipped too soon.

    Use a timer.

believe it or not, hamburger is somewhat delicate, it does not like to be handles a lot, or it will get tough.

doing anything that would squeeze out the juices in there would let it get dry. So leave the poor burger alone.

do you know to make a depression in the center of the top, so the burger will not shrink in diameter, and get high in the middle?

As meat cooks, the heat pushes the juices away from the heat source. To achieve a juicy burger, you only want to flip the burgers once so that you don't disrupt those juices any more than necessary....

Hmmm...let's see. A hamburger has two sides and you need to cook them both. When you put it in the pan that cooks the first side, then you flip it once and that cooks the other side. Et voila, you have a cooked hamburger!

I make my own patties and flip them as many times as I feel like flipping them. They're going to taste the same.

Hamburgers need to be cooked both sides. Do it.

They get hard and lose their juices if you flip them back and forth.

That's why the guy is your EX........ he was out of his mind.

If he wanted them just so, how come he didn't cook them?

Tell your man to cook his own then.
