I'm planning on getting a 36gal community fish tank I'm thinking about getting 8-10 tiger barbs, what fish are really good to keep with them?

Your tank is too small for clown loaches or any of the sharks, as some people recommended.
Other barbs would do ok, cherry barbs would add a pop of colour. Gouramis can usually work ok with barbs if the barb school is big enough - the are at their nippiest in small schools. I would have 10 barbs and maybe either some cherry barbs, a gourami pair or like someone else suggested a group of yoyo loaches (must be in groups).

Other semi-aggressive community fish can be fine.
Gourami, rainbowfish, molly, sharks, etc are all compatible. Are you looking for a larger fish to keep singly or more difference schooling fish?
A gourami like a blue gourami, or gourami pair, plus a dwarf pleco and the tiger barb could work. The gourami can sometimes help make the tiger barb school more.
A good combination of different schooling fish in a 36 gallon would be 6 cory cats as bottom dwellers, 8 tiger barb which will tend to hang out in the middle of the tank, and 6 leopard or zebra or tiger danio for the top of the tank.

tigr barbs are not really community fish. they are aggressive, or ar will get aggressive as they grow. It is possible that with a proper sized school of 10 or so, that tiger barbs would work with other fish, but its never a garantee.
Clown loaches tend to be good with them, but your tank is too small for clown loaches. I think that other loaches could work. there are many species, zebra and yoyo and polka dot loaches would be the right size for the tank, fast enough to not gett bullied by tigers, just keep 5 per species, and places to hide.

barbs can be a bit nippy and are best kept with other barbs although I have heard of people keeping them with gourami, angels, danio and even african cichlids, I do not reccommend it. Anything with long fins or with barbels like catfish and bn plecos have should be avoided. Tiger barbs are very active fish and need plenty of swimming room.
