Does it seem like American fundamentalists are getting nastier and more extreme as time goes on?

I grew up in the 90s, and they honestly didn't seem this bad back then.

    Most fundamentalists are harmless. As a matter of fact most do a lot of good in their communities. Its the truly evil that stick out like a sore thumb.

    Fundamentalists have always been crazy extremists. Their numbers fluctuate, but the crazies are always there. If you think it was better in the past, Google the "Satanic Panic" that happened in the 80's and early 90's. Lives were destroyed over that nonsensical hysteria.
