Really depends on the genre. I'm pretty defensive in fighting games and mobas and such, but I'm pretty aggressive in RPG's and action games.

Depends on the game, really. Usually I find but I generally believe the best defense is a good offence. If i kill the thing before it can do any damage, that does the trick.
Vestige of the old days of turn based, grindy RPGs.
But some games I tend to opt for a more defensive standpoint. IE, Fallout 4 I started my build around Power Armor, so that's defense first (it's hilarious just shrugging off rockets and even the occasional mini-nuke).

Minions. If I can have swarms of minions that's what I go for no matter what those minions do.
Ironically, I've found this makes for a rather nasty character in most games that allow it as a lot of the time if you have a ton of minions they tend to cover all the bases of offense, defense, and support with the PC being an oddball support unit. If your enemies can't get to you they can't win, end of story.
If I can't go for that I tend to go extremely defensive sometimes substituting stealth when raw defensive power doesn't cut it. What it boils down to is I don't like taking risks in games. Aggressive playstyles/character builds tend to be high risk-reward while I prefer to trade that off for being near unkillable/extremely safe so I can just grind opposition into the ground at my leisure.
The only exception to that is FPS games were I am a firm believer in "the best defense is a overwhelming offense." Give me a gun that reduces people to atoms and that's the only time I'll feel safe in an FPS.

Usually I'll go with light and evasive in action RPGs. Monster hunter is slightly an exception, I can go great sword and I'm probably most proficient with it.
In games like civilization, I go with what I feel is best at the situation.. prepare for the barbarians, then focus on techs and buildings. Eventually, prepare for going to the new land and expanding cities. Have to get to new land at or before 1492 as a personal goal and checkpoint.

It varies for me, if it's something like assassins creed where there's a counter mechanic I play more defensive, if it's something like the witcher with a dodge mechanic, or a third/first person shooter more balanced, if it's something like skyrim, then it's aggressive

I'm a coward when it comes to games. I prefer to hang back and pick people off than run up and mellee and blow heads off with a shotgun.

Mainly games that are role playing and strategy, games like Assassin Creed, Fallout 4 and etc.

If it is a stealth game with the option of stealth, I always choose that. I'm not very good at it though xD

Depends, I'm all out attack in RPGs, I can be balanced to defensive in shooters

Support, balance, defense. I player healers and a frost mage in which I control enemies so my warlock bf can beat the crap out of them.
