Can I become a US citizen if I previously worked as a freelancer (Contractor worker) from Mexico?

Update:

Hi, I've been working as a freelancer for a long time (Transcription, translation, even graphic edition) from my place here in Mexico, as a freelancer who offers his services on the internet.

Since most of my family have become legal immigrants (due to my grandfather) my mother started the paperwork to apply for residency over 10-12 years ago, so it's a matter of time before when receive our documents to start the process of becoming residents or legal immigrants in the US.

  • And this private company has made me sign a NDA every year (to renew my contract with them) so I keep working from home here in Mexico.

Will I have issues if I have been a private contractor for such companies?, I wanna make sure I'm not doing anything wrong, I guess I'm ok since everybody works as a freelancer from home, right?

    Thanks.
