what is a "document number" for flight?

My flight was altered due to weather, and I am trying to get a refund (American Airline).

On their refund webpage, it asks for "document number". But no where on my itinerary, receipt and the actual tickets says "document number".

Can someone let me know what numbers I am suppose to use?

Your AA ticket should have a few numbers on it- one of them is a 6 digit code that can be made up of either letters, numbers, or a mixture of both. That is your record locator. On the bottom of your ticket, a much longer mixture of letters and numbers should appear under 'ticket number'. Either of these should be sufficient. I suggest you call AA to double check so that you provide them with the right info.

A document number in airline terms usually means a travel document - like an Identity card for a domestic flight or a passport for an international flight. They are probably trying to verify your identity before processing the refund.

I'd call up AA and ask.

But I think its the itinerary or confirmation Number.

American Airlines employees HUMANS they answer the phone and answer questions. They can be very nice and helpful for your situation . You wait on hold to talk to one.
