I'd say 98% of QBs wouldn't throw the Super Bowl. Between Denver's Defense getting to him and the Super Bowl I think he just had a bad game.

No. He just had a bad game and the Broncos defense got to him.
Look at it this way. The guy is on mega money. To make it worth his while to throw the game someone would have to offer him so much money that it would be easy to trace.
The Panthers lose and $100m arrives in Newton's bank account. He'd go to jail.
Source(s): Cricket has suffered from match fixing. This has been mainly Pakistani guys who are on peanuts compared to what Newton gets. In fact they're on the crumbs that would be left in the packet after Cam had eaten the peanuts. - yLv 75 years ago
I think he mentally had some adversity and he wasn't able to quite work through it. He has showed improvement since coming into the league in many areas, so maybe he will grow from this too.

No, he didn't throw away the game. Denver's defense kept getting in his head causing him to make numerous mistakes.

no - I think he finally came up against a big fast defense and was totally unprepared as to how to score against them
