Why do Muslims say the Quran is 'a miracle'?

When asked what evidence or miracles there are to prove Islam Muslims say 'the Quran is the miracle'.

Walking on water is a miracle. Turning a staff into a snake is a miracle. The Quran is just a book and there's no evidence that it wasn't written by man. How is this a miracle?

    IF the Muslims accepted the fact that [a] the Qur'an was no more than pedestrian prose lacking any poetry or philosophy and was no more than an incessant rant against the Disbelievers full of Hate and commandments to kill all the Disbelievers till ONLY Islam ruled the World, [b] that Mohammed ][pbuh]* was the most loathsome and disgusting man who had been a gigolo, bandit, murderer, rapist, total moral degenerate and pedophile and [c] that the Qur'an is full of mistakes like calling Amram [Imran] father of Mary, Mother of Christ and saying that Aaron was her brother and many other thing like that and [d] that the Qur'an contained ridiculous thing like the "Flat Earth" in many [places and then a claim that Earth was shaped like an ostrich egg and many other such ridiculous claims and contradictions etc etc ... they wouldn't remain Muslim.

    That's why the Muslims say the Qur'an is "Miraculous".

    To delude themselves further and keep their Faith.

    read the Quran you will know

    Different explanations have been given about the Quran being a miracle which can be sorted out under the following three categories: miracle in terms of the words of the Quran, miracle in terms of the contents and miracle in terms of its bringer.

    1. The verbal miracle of the Quran is divided into two subsections:

    A) The miracle of eloquence:

    The Quran’s method of expression or eloquence is such that no method of human speaking, even that of the Holy Prophet (s) is comparable with it. That is why religious scholars have said that the action of those who prevented the inscription of apostolic tradition is not acceptable and justifiable.

    B) Numerical miracle:

    Today, endeavors have been made to establish special numerical relationship between the words and letters of the Quran, thanks to the computer and scientific progress. Such a relation can never exist in human speeches.

    2. Miracle in terms of the contents of the Quran is also discussed in several parts:

    A) Absence of any discrepancies in the Quran;

    B) Reports or prophecies that have taken place exactly about some individuals or unseen events;

    C) Quranic sciences: The Quran contains teachings and sciences that no human being could attain or acquire in the time when it was revealed. These teachings consist of profound mystical, philosophical and rational information.

    D) The inability to nullify the sciences and teachings that are in the Quran. The Quranic sciences continue to be valid even after several centuries.

    3. Miracle in terms of its bringer:

    The Messenger of Islam (s) was an unschooled man. How could he create or write a book in the Arabian Peninsula at a time which was characteristic of public alienation with science and culture?

    I find it funny that they wait until scientists "confirm" their vague short sentences as miracles its almost like they play word gymnastics to fit miracles into their book :O

    Step one look at scientific discoveries

    step two attempt to shoehorn it into the qurans vague passages

    It's a miracle how much trouble one book can cause in the Middle East.

    No miracles, just hearsay. Just because it's written, doesnt make it true, and most certainly doesnt make it a miracle.

    Its not, but, rather obviously not perfect.

    If you read about the history and the compilation of the quran, you'll know that it is very prone to corruption.

    Actually it is already corrupted. How?

    Its not arranged chronologically.

    It changes in style in the later part.

    Oral traditions and memorization of some but not ALL verses.

    And people do forget.

    The "burning of the quran" incident when uthman reigns.

    Narrated Anas bin Malik:

    The Prophet (ﷺ) went out on one of his journeys with some of his companions. They went on walking till the time of the prayer became due. They could not find water to perform the ablution. One of them went away and brought a little amount of water in a pot. The Prophet (ﷺ) took it and performed the ablution, and then stretched his four fingers on to the pot and said (to the people), "Get up to perform the ablution." They started performing the ablution till all of them did it, and they were seventy or so persons.
