Are Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders truly "outsiders"?
Although Bernie identifies as a socialist, I doubt that he truly believes in government owning the means of production, so he's really not that much different ideologically than other Democrats. He's just selling the same ideas in a different wrapper.
As far as Trump, in my view, he is not "anti-establishment" as he portrays himself and in all will uphold the status quo in Washington, continuing the interventionist foreign and monetary policies of Obama, thee Bush's, Clinton etc. Set aside the colorful, politically incorrect rhetoric and witty comebacks, just look at the actual policies he espouses. On the Federal Reserve, on war, debt, foreign policy, on civil liberties etc. Donald Trump is no outsider. He is actually an establishment candidate re-packaged to appear more colorful and engaging.

Bernie Sanders: He is a Democratic Socialist, and he has been very clear about what that means. If you don't know, read his ideas. He doesn't propose a government take over of all business, he just proposes certain areas Government should be responsible (like paying for healthcare).
Trump is an Outsider for real and true. He is a maniac, unmoored and unbeholden to anyone. He is the very definition of a Wild Card candidate. He is this generations Ross Perot, except with a lot more balls and media presence. Who knows what that wildman would do as a president, as his campaign promise is to "Win".

Trump is but knows enough that you have to play ball with the establishment
Bernie has been in Washington forever, none of his bills or ideas have ever moved forward before and the DNC won’t allow him to be the candidate

Bernie has been in DC almost 20 years. He is one of the longest serving DC politicians.
He is even less of an outsider than Hillary.

I agree with you.
They're just trying to appear as 'fringe' to attract younger voters who are generally very far one way or the other (most people move closer to the center as they mature). Trump isn't presidential material (he's changed his opinions multiple times) and just says things for effect, and Sanders is just an old communist idiot.

The establishment is trying very hard to get rid of Trump, and to make Sanders irrelevant. They are not insiders.

Bernie has never had a job, been in politics longer than I have been alive, and has voted for every spending pork Bill there is.
.....hardly an outsider.

I would say yes. You could throw Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Ben Carson in that group too.
