Being an RA has its perks (free or discounted room & board), but it's also a huge responsibility with several drawbacks. You'll be expected to be in your room a lot, including evenings and weekends when you might prefer to go out with friends. You have to deal with your residents' various issues: roommate conflicts, academic problems, homesickness, and other personal problems. You'll often have to be the bad guy, policing the dorm for underage drinking, drugs, noisiness and other breeches of the dorm rules. Even if you're a "nice" RA, it's still your duty to make sure the residents are safe and not getting into trouble - and that sometimes makes you the enemy. Personally, I would much rather be an admissions ambassador. Giving campus tours, sharing your knowledge of the school, talking to prospective students about the school and the admissions process - that sounds like a lot of fun.
