What IS it with democrats & freeing prisoners?

I'm guessing all these former prisoners (unless they return to prison) are a fabulous *voter base* for any/all

Democrat campaigners.

The last two elections have taught them they don't have quite enough voters to win based on merit. If you want to cheat at cards and you play for money, you better be good with a knife

It's about getting new voters. They also want all illegal immigrants to be allowed to vote. It benefits them!

Democrats want to reduce the number of people who are dependent on the government. Keeping people in prison doesn't motivate them to get jobs and become productive members of society.

As a conservative, surely you can understand that.

Keeping non-violent offenders in prison for decades is only an extension of the "welfare state". I don't understand why more conservatives don't support releasing them.

Because we have too many people in jail who really don't deserve to be there.
