Relationships advice: I booked a holiday by my self and he found out I'm not going alone?

I booked a holiday away by myself for my 21st. I decided to book a ticket for my mum to join me, I haven't told her yet. However this guy I'm seeing has booked tickets to surprise me. He found out I bought tickets for my mum. He's face went white as if he's seen a ghost, and he hasn't spoken to me since.

I feel so bad, I've never felt this bad before in my life.

What do I do?

Do I tell him. To come up for the day and I spend the day with him?

Should I book a room before I go for the two of us?

My mum would kill me if she knew he was coming.

I have no idea how to apologise, I feel like I broke his heart.
