Poll - Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic? Is it unusual for someone to be one in this day and age?

I admit to being a hopeless romantic. I know it sounds really dated by modern standards, but there's just something about the old-fashioned romanticism of yesteryear that I find utterly endearing. When I read lists like that:

It really does something for me. The mere thought of being with someone who treats his woman that way gives me butterflies.

I may be in the minority, but honestly, I'll take a good old-fashioned gentleman any day of the week.

Update:

*this (instead of "that", before the colon)

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grammar nut.

I do, but once your past a certain age just finding someone whose conversation you enjoy ifs a challenge, let alone have chemistry with... I haven't met anyone in years that I would be interested in; and last one flipped out on me.

    Go figure.

    It would be nice though.

Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic?

Yes, very much so...at 53 it is the way I was raised.

Is it unusual for someone to be one in this day and age?

No, but rare as so many are raised with the lies that being anything like that is "old" and "old fashion:" and "out of date" and "bad" so you shouldn't do it, same thing they have tried to do with pantyhose, white shoes, ankle straps. ect.

example: I have opened the door for a lady and had her blow up that i was thinking badly of her...She was wrong but it was because she was raised and told that a guy that opens the door feels she is less than she is. Same with taking the coat, pulling out the chair and walking between her and traffic.

I'm a hopeless Cynic and sorry, but to tell the truth, people like you annoy me. Because you fail to see facts and practicalities.

nope, i don't believe in romance as i believe love is simply a state of mind and a successful partnership means that two people came together with the same intentions at the same time.
