    Join clubs or groups with similar interests.

    check your local churches - many have clubs for specific interests and meetings plus invitations to call in for a chat and coffee - none are religion connected - uk.

    Meetup.com has groups for all, and if you cant find one you like, start one. Its for England too if you are English.
