The day Jesus died is not all that important.

As Paul wrote, the IMPORTANT thing is whether or not Jesus became no longer dead.

And the PROOF of the Resurrection is available to anyone who trusts Matthew 18.

According to no less authority than Paul's epistle (First Corinthians 15:14)

“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.”

So, what is the simplest way to prove the Christ is risen?

    Trust the Bible.

Bible reports that Risen Jesus appeared to “over 500 people.”

So, it's not WRONG for Jesus to appear.

Gospel reports (in Matthew 18:19-20) that Jesus made some very specific Promises.

    1. He will be there (invisibly) whenever even a few are gathered in His name.

    2. Whatever is asked of the Father, in the name of Jesus, will be given.

So, all the Believers need to do, is gather a few together, in the name of Jesus, in a place where atheists can see them, and then ask of the Father, in the name of Jesus, that Jesus be allowed to physically manifest Himself.

The atheists will have to admit that the person who appears suddenly, with bleeding (but not painful) holes in his hands, feet, and side, is a whole lot better than a few pages out of a really old book.

And, since Risen Jesus is not bound by the limitations of time and space, the Believers could use the Internet to have several groups do this on the same day, hundreds of miles apart.

Jesus will, of course, appear, since the Biblical Promises are NOT just myths and rumors.

And the FACT that all the blood samples ( which should be collected by the atheists!) will match, is proof that it's the same Jesus appearing at all the dozens of simultaneous occurrences.

Anybody in the Believers' side of this issue care to explain why this will not work?

(Explanation must not contradict the Promises reported in Matthew 18.)

The death of Jesus Christ took place in the spring, on the Passover Day, Nisan 14, according to the Jewish calendar.

That year the Passover occurred on the sixth day of the week (counted by the Jews as from sundown on Thursday to sundown on Friday).

This is evident from John 19:31, which shows that the following day was a great sabbath.

The day after Passover was always a sabbath, no matter on what day of the week it came.

But when this special Sabbath coincided with the regular Sabbath the seventh day of the week, it became a great one.

So Jesus’ death took place on Friday, Nisan 14, by about 3:00 p.m. Lu 23:44-46.

  • The exact Date has been lost to humanity.....however..... it is known that Christ arose from The Tomb on a day we now call Sunday in English..... and He was Crucified on a day before a special Holy Day(Sabbath) of the Jews... which was a day before the weekly Sabbath on Saturday.... so to get the day count right Christ was Crucified on a Thursday.... placed in The Tomb before sunset... and arose sometime before sunrise on Sunday.

Nisan (Abib) 14, 33 CE. The calendar from back then are very different which is why the dates vary.

Back then they mark a new month whenever there was a full moon. Today we don't do that. We have a set number of days in each month.

Therefore, when calculating the date of Jesus death they use the old way of calculating...

Jesus Christ likely never existed to be crucified.

It does not fall on a different day in the 13 month lunar Jewish Calendar

it is always the day before Passover

passover occurs on a different day each of our 12 month years because the 13 month calendar has only 364 days so every once in a while they throw in a leap month

remember there is always a reason

The day after Passover about 33 AD is about as close to the exact date as you can get.

As for the annual remembrance of that event it is whenever the religious communities choose to recognize it.

You do know that Passover was and is calculated on a lunar calendar and not a solar calendar, I hope, and that the governmental solar calendar (Julian) at the time has been replaced by the Gregorian calendar. A date on a lunar calendar corresponds to a particular date on a solar calendar once in many years. The date is actually irrelevant, since it is meaningless in the context you seem to want it in. It varies every year because .... it varies.

    Forgive me.
