why is my black capped conure distant toward me?
I have a 7 month old male black capped conure. I also have a year and some months sun conure. I read that black capped conures tend to be very affectionate and playful, but he only wants to cuddle with my sun or sit in the window. I have had him for 6 months. I got him from Petco (don't start, I saved him and you can say what you will about pet stores) and he doesn't dislike being with me, but he's like, serious bird is serious. He has a clean bill of health. I haven't trained him much since his wings were clipped too short by the breeder and I don't want to frustrate him too much, we have very short sessions mostly with things he knows like step up. I don't need him to like me, as long as he's healthy and happy, I'm just wondering if this is common or even why.

Your birds want to hang out together because they are both birds. Simple as that. They understand each other more than we could. Do you hang out with both birds together? I have a 11yo Sun, he doesn't like playing or doing, he just likes being with me and screaming at people who come to my door. Stop the sessions for now and re start them in a playful way when he is more relaxed. He probably sees them coming and is stressed out by them. Do you just hang out with your birds? Let your birds play with you.
