are we able to define/describe an all powerful being such as god? assuming they exist of course.?

my thinking for this goes something like this and for the purposes of this question i am assuming some form of deity exists, but i am unsure if i actually believe this to be true.

god - a being that created everything we know of, and entire universe which, while it may not actually be infinite, may as well be to our limited senses. he created everything in it and all the process's that keep it running, so far, for at least 17 billion years, with little or no direct input from him.

why would a being so powerful create a measley little planet with flawed little being on it and then give them half an idea of his existence and then bugger off and leave them to fight it out. i dont think he would create the universe for that. in fact i cant think of why he would create a universe at all.

he would however create a child.

thats the only thing i can possibly relate too. but without understand what we (the child) actually are, we cant understand god. this should be the focus for our children.

    I can imagine several reasons.

    1. It's lonely and is waiting for us to catch up.

    2. It wants to experience every possible thing from every possible viewpoint, so subdivides itself into us (and a billion other things as well)

    3. It's not all powerful, and needs us for some future purpose for which this existence is a training ground (say cannon fodder, or living chaff)

    4. It's bored this eon.

    5. It's performing some unimaginable experiment.

    6. some other reason we can't even comprehend.

I can think of many reasons, I just can't think of one any evidence supports.

  • The idea of an all powerful being doesn't make sense. Omnipotence is a paradox. If a God did exist it I figure it would have limited power and control over the universe. That's really the only way to explain the state of things.
