It's now called Old English. An older name is "Anglo-Saxon", while the speakers at the time called it "Ænglisc". It's very different from the Modern English we speak now, and English speakers have to learn it to be able to understand it. Old English is as different from Modern English, as Classical Latin is from for example French.

It's Old English. No nickname for it. It is forgotten. You could learn to read it, but 99.5% of all living English speakers won't have a clue about what you are trying to say to them in Old English.
