I think my parakeet is sad....Please help!?
I got my bird (Cookie) last Wednesday. He was very active and it wasn t until we got home that he got all quiet. Now, he s eating and drinking water regularly, although he still stays in one spot sometimes. The problem? He sits in his food bowl for the majority of the morning and evening (btw, i have a perch bult into the food bowl and that is where he stands). He puffs up and sits there and eats every 10 minutes, and he doesn t really eat tat much. He is not sick; his feathers aren t ruffled they re quite neat (he just looks like a poofball), his nose is clear an not runny, and his poop is solid, ark green an white (he poops regularly), his feet are smooth, his beak is shiny, an his eyes are brighter than the sun. I m just worried he might be sad (he chirps a bit every day, especially when there is noise). I just dont want him to die, and I don t want him sad..
Also, since he s new, I had to take him out of his cage (I clean the cage from top to bottom once a week) and he s stil petrified of hands, so how do I tame him?

Since he is new he needs a little time to adjust, sounds to me he is just a little lonely if he came from a pet store he is probably just missing his friends. This is something he can get over though just spend lots of time with him. Then he will see you as a new friend. So I hear you want to tame him so here are the steps.
Step 1: Place your hand on top of the cage, slowly speaking to him in your normal tone NO BABY TALK! Do this for about a week. For 30 mins.
Step 2: Place your hand inside the cage on the floor or a perch depending if your bird is comfortable with that, don't make any sudden movements STAY PATIENT! Also do this for about a week 30 mins each .
Step 3: Offer him millet birds love that stuff, by this time he should be used to your hand, if not go back a Step. Try firmly placing your finger under his chest and say "step up" some birds don't like to step up on your fingers at first so use a perch even this might scare your bird so if you see this take a 30 min break for your bird to calm down.
Step 4: continue working with him teach him his name, or other cool tricks. If he is not ready for this continue doing steps 1-3. Good Luck :D
