"Prone" is an adjective. We use "prone to", when we speak about negative aspects in someone's life. If someone experiences something unpleasant, we say he or she is prone to do something or is prone to something.

    1) Farmed fish are prone to disease

    2) Kids are all prone to eat junk food

Thieves are prone to steal just as hunters are prone to pursue. The word, "prone" means tend to or be likely to do whatever.

  • Prone alone usually means lying down motionless whereas prone to seems to mean an inevitable situation like a person prone to drunkenness .
