I wish I could remember the name of the movie. I watched it late on HBO about 20 years ago. It was a sequel (I think it was the 6th in a series).
Anyway, it was an even worse B movie Air Force version of Under Siege.
Basically, some former Air Force SOF guy pissed someone off, lost his clearance, and was basically deliver the mail in the missile field (in a Jeep no less). During one of his distro runs, he stumbles upon some blonde haired Islamic terrorists that take over a launch facility (which looks nothing like a real MMIII complex), and uses his Kung-Fu to save the day.
Pretty much everyone's uniforms were jacked up, and everything they said and did was unrealisted. SAC was gone, still in the movie. This was in the brief period when McPeak had AF officers wearing Navy-style rank. The producers got ahold of the new service dress coats, which didn't have epaulets, and instead of putting Navy-style rank on the sleeves, just had pin on rank on the shoulders. None of the 'missileers' had a pocket rocket.
This movie made Iron Eagle IV look like Oscar material. It was right down there with some other made for cable movie about a 300-pound 40 year old captain with long hair flying F-16s in the Balkans (the budget was so low, all of the other 'American' aircraft were obvious old Soviet planes and helicopters).
Oh, speaking of Iron Eagle IV, I loved the Security Police that had their badges pinned onto their berets.

Where there are frequently mistakes of
that nature, it's more those of continuity
that happen a lot (i.e., where they've shot
parts of a scene at different times and did
not get things back to exactly the way they
were in a previous take). The following clip
is one example of very bad continuity:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHc9HUAVuvU
This example is a bit of a distraction from
your original question (regarding uniform)
but I think it illustrated the problem quite
well. Overall, most uniform mistakes are
somewhat subtle and really only apparent
to military personnel -- things like personal
grooming (hair length, facial hair, use of
makeup on females); wrong, or conflicting
insignias or even just wrong quantities of
them; order of medals on dress uniforms;
improper salutes; ... things like that.
On a side note: did you know that there is
an urban legend that Hollywood HAS to
make sure uniforms are not 100% correct?

Most common is long flowing locks of hair and military covers worn pulled down to the point where the ears and "cab-dooring."
The most accurate movies are those which employ Captain Dale Dye as Technical Advisor - but sometimes even the best Technical Advisor can't overrule the total stupidity and prejudices of a Director.
The most technically accurate and historically accurate Civil War movie ever made was "Ride With the Devil" (1999) directed by Ang Lee.

Usually, most movies hire ex-Military people to get those details right. Often what you might see is the chest full of ribbons........but if you look closely and really scrutinize them.............maybe they are out of order or something.
One I recall hearing about, at around the time the movie "Hurt Locker" came out..........was that supposedly the camoflauge pattern seen in the movie, didn't even exist in that time period it was set in.....and there were a number of other laughable gaffs.........so clearly, they skimped on the Military consulation experts.
Some Movies......hire experts to get EVERY Minor detail right.....so as not to disgrace the Service.

I recently saw a movie on television where the character was a colonel but yet when he put his blouse on it had the stripes of an E-6. Sorry I can't recall the movie it was but it was somewhat comical to see.

Almost all of them. Very few ever get it right. That retarded TV show "Over There" actually got most of the uniforms and equipment right. Too bad that everything else about the show was total crap.
