Jehovah's Witnesses don't have the Holy Spirit??

I just recently came across a Jehovah's Witness answer which states that "Only those who are of the heavenly class are baptized with holy spirit" and everyone else lives on earth.

I was aware that you believe only 144,000 go to heaven and the rest live on a paradise earth, but I was not aware you believe these 144,000 are the only ones who have the Holy Spirit.

Is this accurate, or did this individual misunderstand?

If this IS accurate, HOW on earth can your religion claim ANY truth, since the Holy Spirit is what gives Christians understanding? Also, (unless this has also been replaced with new light) since by your own organizations admission, you don't keep track of "anointed ones" its safe to say you don't know if they are involved in writing Watchtower articles, so how do you get the "proper understanding" and how can you claim to be led by the Holy Spirit at all?

Update:

Brendan, I agree. And I have gone to the bible for answers. Hence the confusion and this question because what the bible says is not ^^^this, or any of the answers here. There is nothing biblical about saying only 144,000 have the holy spirit. Surely, you cannot REALLY believe the bible says this?

Update 2:

*Brenda I apologize for the typo

Update 3:

Linda - So I can be sure I understand you correctly, you say that the anointed are baptized with the Holy Spirit, and the non-anointed simply "have" the holy spirit? What precisely is the difference? I see no scriptures indicating the holy spirit is not given to all believers, so your explanation for the obvious contradiction of your belief and scripture is that Paul got it wrong? He didn't know of any other class, so we had to wait for the Jehovah's Witnesses to clarify it?

Only 14,000 out of 8 million Jehovah's Witnesses claim to be born again, or "anointed" with Jehovah's impersonal active force (their interpretation of the Holy Spirit). The rest reckon they don't need to be born again but think they can still have some of the spirit - just not all of it.

Look at what Jesus said to Nicodemus in John chapter 3 about having to be born again before you can see the kingdom of God. To be born again is to be born from above and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. But Jehovah's Witnesses say only 144,000 persons since the time of Jesus can be born again, and that only 144,000 persons since the time of Jesus can enter into the new covenant and have Christ Jesus as their mediator. They even go so far as to claim that the promises in the New Testament apply only to 144,000 persons since the time of Jesus.

John 1:12-13 says that to ALL who received Jesus (by faith) to ALL who believed in His Name, God gives the RIGHT to be born again, of God, yet 99.9 per cent of Jehovah's Witnesses cheerfully say they are NOT born again, nor need they be!

They have believed their leaders who say salvation has nothing to do with being born again. And thus even if they claim they have faith in Jesus, and that they do believe in Jesus' name, they refuse to exercise their right to be born again. That is shown by taking the bread and wine when remembering Jesus' death. Less than one per cent of Witnesses do that. That's the difference between what the Bible says, and what Jehovah's Witnesses say.

ALL who belong to Jesus have the assurance of the Holy Spirit indwelling them so they can cry out “Abba, Father,” knowing they have been adopted into God’s family. But not Jehovah’s Witnesses because they have been deceived into thinking they do not need to be born again and indwelt by the Spirit. They have been deceived into thinking salvation is by their efforts and can be lost if their efforts are insufficient.

Under Righteousness the “Insight” book (Volume 2, page 857) says it is only those who become "Christ's brothers" (those who will go to Heaven) who are declared righteous. On page 811 the book says those accepting Christ were declared righteous, not as something earned, but as a gift. Since they claim only 144,000 persons can ever be declared righteous, they ought to confine justification (being declared righteous) to that tiny group but, no, in this section they imply that those who persevere in righteousness include those to whom the earth is promised. This will lead earth-bound Witnesses to think that even though they have not been declared righteous by God, they can still work at being righteous and this will merit them a paradise earth! Once again, the Witnesses have been deceived into thinking that they can earn the right to be declared righteous by virtue of their own efforts.

Under Sanctification “Insight” says: "The act or process of making holy, separating, or setting apart for the service or use of Jehovah God." But under the heading “The Process of Sanctification" (Volume 2, page 857), they apply this only to those who will go to heaven. This means that 99% of all Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot claim to be sanctified, for the “Insight” book says it is a "procedure for those who are to become joint heirs with Christ."

What a contrast with the Bible’s assurances to ALL believers! Jehovah’s Witnesses think there are two hopes (one heavenly and the other earthly) in spite of the Bible saying, “There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians4:4-5). Because of this, they have been deceived into thinking that the New Covenant and the promises of the New Testament are to be realized only by 144,000 persons, those who hope to rule as kings and priests with Christ Jesus from heaven.

That is why only a mere 14,000 Witnesses will take the bread and the wine at their annual memorial service. The rest are outsiders - outside of the New Covenant. Actually, given those 8 million witnesses are not born again or indwelt with the Holy Spirit, it is only right that they do not partake. But they should be really worried about the eternal consequences of being kept out of the New Covenant and being denied the full measure of the Holy Spirit.

What hypocrisy: "All JWs are guided by the Holy Spirit, but only a few are BAPTISED or ANOINTED with it." So, some of you JWs have status that the rest of you are not given, and are stuck being second-class to The Anointed Ones forever.

So how do you know who among you has been "anointed" or "baptised?" The ones that knock on the most doors, or by vote, maybe? Or does the Governing Body say who has it? Besides, I thought you called the H.S. "God's active force" anyway--this entity which you apparently think is only the Lord's errand boy anyway, and NOT God Himself. Topping it off, to claim there is an underclass among you DIRECTLY contradicts the Bible you claim to follow. The apostles James and Peter upheld Paul's teaching as authentic, BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, when some of the Jewish Christians were insisting that new Gentile Christians had to be circumcised before being fully accepted as fellow Christians, equal to the rest (Acts 15, especially verses 8-9).

I don't see how they could believe that anyone has the Holy Spirit if they believe that the Holy Spirit is only Jehovah's force.

Decisions, doctrine and what is printed in the literature is solely in the hands of the governing body, as of 2012...started around 2009. Prior to that, it was believed that the faithful and discrete slave class included all anointed. Now it is only the governing body. To my knowledge, none of the anointed other than the governing body have ever been responsible for much of anything.

It is true that they believe only the 144,000 are born again or indwelt by the Holy Spirit. I can hardly express how dangerous that teaching is, but alas... try to tell them that and it's ignored.

I think it should be obvious to anyone outside of the JW org that the entire organization is without the Holy Spirit. Given the ever-changing doctrines, false teachings, failed predictions... sorry, God has nothing to do with that. The Holy Spirit isn't giving them understanding. This religion is given understanding by the author of confusion...that's why they mess up so often. It's the only conclusion you can come to, when considering all of what the Bible really teaches. Thankfully, praise God! these people are being called out and waking up in droves. I pray all of them will and don't have hearts that are too hardened to find real Truth.

They really should consider Eph. 1:13, 14 and think about whether or not they have any hope of eternal life.

In him {Christ} you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

    As well as these...

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. John 3:3, 5

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Rom. 8:9

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matt. 7:21. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:40

    EDIT:

I just came across this and have to share because of what I stated above. Listen to how many there are that have left!! And this is only what this one group knows about. They're leaving in droves, praise the Lord.

You need to go to the bible for the answers ...it is not what we say its what Gods word says....Guided by God’s Spirit in the First Century and Today

    THEME SCRIPTURE

“All these operations the one and the same spirit performs.”—1 CORINTHIANS 12:11.

    1. What will we study in this article?

PENTECOST of the year 33 was a day when some exciting things happened. It was the day that God poured out his spirit on his servants! (Acts 2:1-4) God began to use his spirit to guide his people in a new way. In the last article, we studied about how God’s spirit helped his faithful servants of the past to do difficult things in God’s service. But what is the difference between the way God’s spirit guided God’s servants before the Christian congregation was created and after that? And how do Christians benefit from the guidance of God’s holy spirit today? That is what we are going to study in this article.

  • All Witnesses of Jehovah God has his holy spirit helping them but the 144,000 chosen to serve in heaven are anointed with his holy spirit so that their spirit and God's spirit are in agreement as the Scriptures say.Romans 8:15-17, Galatians 4:6,7.

What that person told you was more than likely wrong because that statement contradicts the scripture Luke 11:13 where it states "Therefore, if you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit to those asking him!” The person may have simply been confused, but if you look up the information on the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses then you can have an answer without opinion.

Please understand that we do not believe anything except what the bible teaches.

Only those who are of the heavenly class are baptised with holy spirit. If they sin willingly after this, they can never be forgiven. Since you and I are not of this class, that's a break for us.

Goif uses His holy spirit or active force in other ways as well and He gives it's power to those who are living by His standards and ask for it.

He uses it to comfort and strengthen His people and support the worldwide preaching work Matthew 24:14.

You could say He uses it to allow those studying the bible in sincerity to understand, since unless He allows it, they will not be able to understand.

Let me make it clear that the criteria is not God's whim but whether or not you are reading to learn about Him or have an agenda of your own.

Yes, Those of the anointed class are the ones who compose the watchtower articles. While they are led by Jesus, they are not infallible and like the early disciples, have been impatient and jumped the gun in predicting the time for prophecies to occur. Otherwise, the information they impart is amazing.

Paul was not aware of any class other than the anointed. So many of his words are confusing to those who do not understand, that they do not apply to those of us who will inherit the earth.

As always, God reveals information on a "need to know" basis.

"Jehovah's Witnesses don't have the Holy Spirit??"

There's no proof such a thing exists. So, nobody has it.
