How can i help my "transgender" friend be less miserable?

I have a friend. He was born a dude, but he is completely miserable and wants to be a female. I have absolutly no prob with that, i want him (or her) to be happy. But his parents disaprove and he hasnt outed himself to his other friends because they dont understand. He is very unhappy, he cuts himself, and crys alot. I want to help but he says there is no way to help. I cant tell any of my other friends because i promised not to. And all the consulers at my school dont care. I really dont know what to do. I was a former cutter myself, and i know that telling isnt always the best thing, it will just make him more embarrased and depressed.

He has a mental issue. Its no coincidence that he cuts himself too along with his pretend feelings he is a woman. Many people that try to escape reality want to cut themselves and becoming transgender is an ultimate form of cutting oneself. Tell him that his parents are right and even talk to his parents and discuss his unstable behavior. Just because he says he is sad doesnt mean pretending to be a female will have the same effect as cutting himself. Avoiding the real problem. For whatever reason your friend has no sef esteem and probably was abused in some sort as a child. Tell him its not impossible to be successful in the wrong body since bruce jenner did the impossible and lived for over 60 years as a male. What a feat. Something that these cult transgenders of he lgbt say is impossible to do... Live as the gender you are born as.

Ps lgbt will tell you to lie to his parents but do you want to take advice from people that tell you to lie?
