Why does Yahoo.com want me to answer my cell phone number?
I am in Japan. I do not use a cell phone.
I use only my Fixed-line phone and my Fixed-line internet ID , gmail ID and yahoo,com ID and so on . Must I buy a cell phone to fullfil the registration items of my Yahoo.com account? I tried to registrate my Fixed-line phone number for cell phone number, but Yahoo.com refused.

It's for account authentication.
If they're not sure it's you, they send a text to your cell # and you put it in the box.
If you don't want to, just click "I'll do it later" or "skip for now" ( can't remember which Yahoo uses).
