How does feeding work with "sacrifice" paddocks?
When it gets too muddy or you need the pasture to recover, you move your horse to a "sacrifice area or paddock". Would you have to transition over to hay when doing this or how does that work since there is currently no pasture?

If my horses had hay 24/7 they would be morbidly obese. When penned up horses do need enough appropriate food at regular intervals.
I cut mine some willow branches to chew the bark on too.

Your horse should have hay 24/7 anyway! So yes, you still need to feed your horse hay. If horses don't get hay they can lose weight, develop behavioural or riding problems, get ulcers, or even colic.
